Nyumbar provides a variety of cultural education programs to suit the need of your school.
All of our programs start with a full school assembly to perform an Acknowledgement of Country, to pay respects to the Traditional Land that we are teaching on, the Traditional Land your students are learning on and the Traditional Land that your school is on. Acknowledging and paying respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land, past, present and future. This is accompanied with the sound of the Yidaki.
A cleansing/ sweeping Ceremony is also performed using gum leaves. This Ceremony is to cleanse away any negative energy and invite in positive energy.
The Nyumbar Program is a cultural Interactive program. Students will have the opportunity to touch, feel and learn about Aboriginal tools, weapons and cultural resources.
The Ngahri Program is a dance program that focuses on movement and dance and its importance in Aboriginal culture. Students will learn some movements and contemporary and traditional dances and they story that relates to the dance.
The Jagen Program we discuss and learn more about the local Aboriginal history of the area your school is located. Students will learn about traditional foods, resources, sites and significant people from the area.
The Bamaboomahla Program is an art program where students will learn and look at different Aboriginal art styles and symbols. Students will have the opportunity to create a story using Aboriginal art symbols.
The Jahjum Program is a preschool program. This program includes a range of activities, such as storytelling, art, music and dance, and cultural education.
We also provide Specialised programs to meet the individual needs of your school.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live. We pay respects to Elders past and present.
